mFAST: A MATLAB toolbox for ocean bottom seismometer refraction first-arrival traveltime tomography

First-arrival seismic traveltime tomography (FAST) is a well-established technique to estimate subsurface velocity structures. Although several existing open-source packages are available for first-arrival tomography, most were written in compiled languages and lack sufficient extendibility new algorithms functionalities. In this work, we develop an open-source, self-contained FAST package based on MATLAB, one of the popular interpreted scientific programming languages, with focus ocean bottom seismometer refraction tomography. Our contains complete workflow, including ray-tracing-based computation, linearized inversion, quality control, high-quality visualization. We design as modular toolbox, making it convenient integrate functionalities needed. At current stage, our efficient performing two-dimensional surveys. demonstrate efficacy accuracy by using synthetic data example modified Marmousi model.
